Transportation

The Transportation Department is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of students attending Tri-Creek School Corporation.

Transportation is provided to and from school for students living beyond a one-mile walking distance from their school. For more information about school bus routes and bus stops, please call the Transportation Department at 696-6661. An interactive map showing approximate school boundaries can be found by clicking here. Families seeking information on specific school placements should call the Transportation Department.

Currently, Tri-Creek School Corporation services 72 routes per day, transporting more than 3,000 students and traveling 1,863 miles a day. These figures do not include extracurricular trips.

Tri-Creek School Corporation provides training in all areas of student transportation, including management, safety, routing, defensive driving, maintenance, assertive discipline, and driver training.

Before hiring a new bus driver, Tri-Creek School Corporation provides the following in addition to the state’s requirements:

  • A minimum of 20 hours training, which includes both classroom and behind-the-wheel training
  • Pre-employment drug testing
  • Criminal history record check
  • Motor vehicle record check

Tri-Creek School Corporation participates in a random drug and alcohol pool for employees administered by a state-approved outside agency, where a percentage of bus drivers are chosen at random. The chosen bus drivers are required to submit to a drug and/or alcohol test within one hour of notification.

Everybody has a job in school bus safety!

Across the country, about 22 million children ride to and from school each day in 350,000 buses. Traveling on a school bus is the safest form of transportation, but it takes the combined efforts of students, parents, drivers, and other motorists to help keep it that way.
