Oak Hill Elementary School maintains the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (P.B.I.S.) program to further support our Character Education program. We will continue to highlight and celebrate positive behavior through our reward systems. P.B.I.S. also supplies students with skills to handle potentially negative situations and think about the best course of action.

Having a school-wide behavioral approach includes everyone. Students are able to see that we all support them and equally contribute to our school’s success and safety. We have designed an expectation grid for assemblies, during lunch and recess, on the bus, in the classroom, and in the hallway. These expectations will be posted in the specific areas and are attached.

Oak Hill Elementary School has adopted the acronym R.O.C.K.S. Our motto is “Our Flock Rocks”. In order to continue with our motto, our acronym for P.B.I.S. stands for Respectful, Organized, Cooperative, Kind, and Safe. When a student exhibits a positive desired behavior, we will reward you with Cardinal Cash. Our positive reward list is attached for you to read with your child.

I am also attaching a copy of our Oak Hill Pledge, which we challenge every student to live by. We will be saying the Oak Hill Pledge together every morning over announcements to remind students of the high expectations we have for them.

We are also continuing with the long tradition of choosing an Outstanding Cardinal from each class for each semester. The Outstanding Cardinal is a student who exemplifies the character traits of being respectful, organized, cooperative, kind, and safe. They are celebrated with a breakfast, tshirt, and having their picture posted in the hallway.

During the month of January, we are going to be reviewing our behavioral expectations daily. We will be focusing on a different trait from our R.O.C.K.S. acronym. We encourage you to ask your child what trait they are learning about and working on. By having our partnership between home and school, we can ensure we develop students who are prepared to be lifelong citizens and learners.

Thank you for your continued support! Remember, every Friday is Spirit Day! Your child can wear their cardinal or RDP gear. If they do not have spirit wear, red and black will do!
